SIDE SPARE WHEEL CARRIERS WITH STEADYING STAYS IN FRAME USING 3/8" BOLTS REPLACING 5/16" BOLTS. Origin. To prevent distortion of chassis frame, thereby steadying spare wheels. Experimental Test Report. Fitted on Bump test chassis and proved satisfactory. Road Test Report. Fitted to 19-EX and ran 10,000 miles in France. The 5/16" bolts failed holding brackets to frame. 3/8" bolts fitted were OK. Spare wheels were steadier with these brackets fitted. Weight of Old Part. Cost of Old Part. £ 10/7d.
