Norfolk Works,
SHEFFIELD.

Dear Sirs,

You recently made us two 20 HP. front springs with a free camber of 5", normal loaded camber of 1" positive.

We subjected these springs to our normal test and one spring which has broken up failed after 23 hours running. The other spring ran 44 hours with only a fracture of the bottom plate.

From the appearance of the broken main leaf we should say that the material is at fault and should like your opinion on it. At the same time we should like you to replace the broken plates and return the springs to us at your earliest convenience.

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
