| Owing to the Government's appeal to save paper, this letter is written on both sides of the paper. Messrs Calcott Bros. Ltd., COVENTRY. Dear Sirs, We had occasion to fit the brake straps you supplied, to the small car we have of your make, but we find that they are not entirely satisfactory, and do not appear as if they would last long. We measure the bore of the inner brake as 5.950" approximately, and the brake straps you have sent as 5.825" approximately. There is therefore a slack of .125", which we think is excessive. Will you kindly therefore make us another pair of complete shoes, namely, two whole rings, preferably lined with Ferodo, fastened down with plenty of small copper rivets or nails. We suggest that they shall be made and delivered in your usual condition, but that the external diamater over the Ferodo shall be 5.900", therefore .050" slack instead of .125". If more slack is needed, one can easily file the flats which the cams operate upon. We find much oil always gets on to all the brakes. There appears no means of avoiding this except by cleaning the whole hub and ball bearings, and putting only a small amount of P.T.O. | ||
