CHASSIS 2.PER.II. AFTER 10,000 MILES TRIALS

2.Per.II. has been completely stripped for examination following 10,000 miles tests in France, and the general condition of frame, engine unit and transmission is summarised below.

No wearing parts were measured prior to the tests, but wherever subsequent examination has revealed evidence of excessive wear, careful measurements have been made and the amount of wear estimated.

Frame & Fittings - N.S. 3344 - 3530 - 3532 - 3497 - 3517.
RR. Schemes 121-129-130-168-173-190-2-3-4-6
201-203-264.

1. Both side channels cracked at the .437 diameter holes for the front shock damper bolts and at the .312 diameter holes for the rear shock damper cantilever brackets. Both channels had been weakened at these points by the presence of additional holes drilled in connection with experimental shock damper schemes.

2. Front dumb irons F.{Mr Friese} 100018/9 and front crossmember F.100201 in good condition.

3. Engine mounting Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 740.
Centre Bracket EX. 9700 in good condition.
.006" wear in ferobestos bush EX. 9689. Bearing surfaces in good condition.

4. The heat shield F.{Mr Friese} 100241 is bent and the 2nd. and 3rd. crossmembers are buckled.
This damage is attributed to the car having struck a tree during the course of the tests.

5. Rear crossmember and dumb irons in good condition.

6. Battery crossmember in good condition.

7. Slight wear in front and rear spring anchor brackets F.{Mr Friese} 100083S and F.{Mr Friese} 100103.

8. Rear shock damper support plates buckled due to collapse of alum. distance pieces(now stiffened).
