C.c. BY, Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}, Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, Haw 16th. May 1938. Secret & Confidential. De/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}18/C. Messrs. Park Ward & Co. Ltd., 473 High Road, Willesden, London, N.W.10. For the attention of Mr.Pinney. Dear Sirs, 604. Re: Wide Frame 25/30 Chassis. We have investigated your request that the first body bracket on the above chassis approximately 15,000 aft of the back of the dash be shortened in the plan view by .350. The design of this bracket and its Floatex Bush is shown on Led.5164 sent to you for the first experimental car 26-C-6 with E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/MS. of September 23rd 1936. If you refer to this design you will see that the top face of the bracket is only just large enough to accommodate the bolt flange of the Floatex Capsule. The most that could be removed is .150. We would arrange to have all of these brackets sawn off by that amount at Derby, and arrange to have the blanking tool altered at an economic date. All of the experimental bodies have been built without alteration to this bracket as far as we are aware. We would be glad to hear from you regarding the possibility, if any, of widening the body at the base in the locality to clear the bracket, either by reduced turn-under with or increased tumble in at the top. without Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
