Y421 To BJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG30.11.23. RUDGE-WHITWORTH WHEELS - 20 HP. Y421 X3599 With reference to the set of R-W wheels we are running on a 20 HP. car - so far, they have behaved satisfactorily. We have criticised the fact however, that the wheels are too tight on the hubs - they are so tight that it would be impossible for a lady to remove them, in fact, we at times have had to use a lever for this operation. We have arranged with the R-W people that we shall send a the car to Coventry on Monday next fitted with these wheels. They will rectify them when the car is there. Our impression is that these wheels stand more chance of being satisfactory than the previous sets we have tested. We propose to recommend that we purchase another 2 sets of these wheels to suit the 20 HP. and also increasing the order for the 40/50 to 3 sets. We do not however recommend ordering these wheels until we have completed a further 1,000 miles after the R-W people have corrected them. It is desirable for us to have 3 sets to complete the standardisation tests. One set would be used for bumping tests and two sets for road tests. We propose taking this car to WW. on our next visit. We wish that the R.W. people shall be satisfied with them and that we shall have an opportunity of seeing how they behave before we take them to WW. R.{Sir Henry Royce} is aware that tests are being carried out. We anticipate receiving the 40/50 HP. wheels in two to three weeks. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
