THE R.P. ADJUSTABLE THERMOSTAT
Capillary tube arranged into one loop at a point close to instrument to allow for vibration
DASHBOARD

The R.P. Adjustable Thermostat controls the temperature of the water in the cylinder block only and keeps it constant within 2 or 3 degrees irrespective of water temperature in the radiator. Therefore when a thermometer is used, it should be connected to the cylinder block or to the top hose pipe.

The R.P. Dashboard Thermometer fits into the R.P. Thermostat body and indicates the correct temperature of the water in the cylinder block, enabling the motorist to set the Thermostat accurately to within 2º or 3º Centigrade.

NOTE.—Sketch is merely to show Thermostat and Thermometer connection. When fitting see that Thermostat Branch piece is horizontal and parallel with Radiator.

HOW TO FIT THE R.P. THERMOMETER.
1. Cut hole in instrument board.
2. Pass bulb and capillary tube through hole and fix instrument case.
3. Drill hole in bulkhead to allow bulb and capillary to pass through.
4. Lead capillary tube along bulkhead stay to the required position.
5. Drain water out of radiator sufficiently to make the water outlet hose dry. Then insert Thermometer bulb into R.P. Thermostat and tighten nut sufficiently to prevent leaking. See that the lead washer supplied is in position.
Avoid all sharp bends in capillary tube. See there is no point at which tube may chafe. Between any two points the capillary tube must not be under tension.
Capillary tube should be kept clear of exhaust pipe, manifold or any other part of the engine which heats when running.
On no account must the capillary tube be cut, and if there is a surplus of tubing it should be formed into a neat flat spiral and be supported at some convenient point.
NOTE.—Radiator type Thermometers, whilst still acting as warning devices, do not give the exact temperature of the water in the cylinder block when the R.P. Thermostat is fitted.

GUARANTEED FOR 12 MONTHS.
The R.P. Thermometer is guaranteed to be accurate and free from defect in material and workmanship. If any instrument does not make good on this guarantee it may be returned to us within one year from date of purchase, when it will be repaired or replaced free of charge.
