Dr/JMS C. RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Mr Dr/RO.{C. C. Rose - Export Manager}S. Mr Dr/[?] E.H.T. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}8/G.14.12.38. CHILDS DISTRIBUTOR WITH LUCAS GOVERNOR. D.OD.838 (Sheet 2). WRAITH AND BENTLEY. We have added revised drive arrangement to this scheme to suit requirements of Messrs. Lucas, who prefer a shorter shaft with separate driving tongue pinned to same, rather than the long shaft and tongue in one piece. It will be noticed we have had to revert to pinning the driving piece to the distributor shaft and thus the driving torque is transmitted to shaft via the pin. Severe tests, however, (see report Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}23.3.38) proved that since fitting the spring drive the possibility of shearing the pin was removed. For B.60 it merely means lengthening the coupling sleeve.
