One test we made, we pulled up from 20 m;p.h. in 48 ft. - at 20 m.p.h. to 25 ft.
When the brakes were applied hard, the back wheels skidded but we did not get the front wheels to skid. We did not try any violent braking on a corner. The braking at all times was smooth and silent.
The steering was wonderfully light on this car. It is, we should say, lighter than on our present car. We could not feel any tendency for the steering to take charge on a corner but we had not an opportunity of vigorously testing this.
In view of the fact that the car had light steering, light brake pedal pressure and light clutch, it was a nice car to drive.
The brakes operated by the foot pedal were not very effective going backwards, although there was some braking. It was, however, very noticeable when shunting, that in the forward direction the braking was absolutely positive - backwards one had to use considerably more pressure and then the braking was rather feeble.
The springing of the car at low speeds was not equal to ours especially over pot-holey roads.
We recommended that Sales should purchase the second-hand Hispano car. We think for the information we require it should be equal, if not better, than a new car.
X.446 We have heard that the 4-wheel brakes operated by servo on a 24/60 Sunbeam are very violent in action. With the
