Substitution of a rolled eye for a solid eye on the Phantom II Rear Axle Spring to reduce costs.

| To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from ROY {Sir Henry Royce} c. to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} [struck through] c. to DY. {F R Danby} [struck through] c. to HY. {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} [struck through] You will recollect some two months ago we discussed in Wor {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} 's room the advisability of substituting a rolled Eye on the PHANTOM II Rear Axle Spring instead of a solid Eye, the idea originating, I believe, at Mr. Royce's suggestion that our costs on such Axle Springs could be materially reduced by such substitution. It was then agreed the matter should be pushed all possible, and the object of this note is to ask if Standardisation Sheet can now be circulated covering same, and if not, when it is probable, as we are still buying such PHANTOM II Rear Axle Springs from Messrs.
