Phantom III Gearbox.

With reference to the strength of the two actuating sleeves G.81690 and G.82896, and the reverse rocking shaft bearing G.82655, when made in cast iron, we suggest the alterations shown on N.Sch.5022, a print of which is attached.

We should like to thicken the 2nd speed actuating sleeve at the bottom of the groove, but cannot do this without altering other pieces which we presume is not desired for the first experiment.

We have made no alteration to G.81690 as we think this will be strong enough as it is. Should it be found not to be strong enough, investigation will have to be made of the best means of finding room to increase thicknesses as at the moment there is no spare space.
