X38242 Mr. Hancock from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} We wish to keep the 20 HP. car at Chateauroux to carry out investigation tests. In order that the car shall behave reasonably well we are sending to you a new piston and rings so that you can replace the faulty one. The points we want you to investigate are :- 1. Central lubrication. 2. Lubrication of propeller shaft. 3. We expect to send you a new cyl. head which gives a lower compression ratio. We want you to test this to see that it is free from pre-ignition and detonations. 4. Please try and tell us why the petrol consumption is so high. 5. We also want you to carry out investigations on the wobbling on the front of the car. We are doing extensive work on this fault here and hope to be able to send you pieces to fit on to your car and test in a short time. As we discussed before you went away. We want to develop at Chateauroux a Depot for investigating faults. You have ideal conditions there for carrying out road tests and can do more in a day than we can do in a month. When an opportunity presents itself, you might return to Derby for a day or so to discuss the work which is being carried on at Derby and also the programme of work for Chateauroux. contd :- | ||
