R.R. 194 a (400 T) - S.C. 539. 15-2-16) G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} 1546. To by from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} To MB from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Cik. RE IGNITION PLUG FIRING IN POCKET. E1/W22916 22.9.16 With further reference to my memo. E3/W16916. kindly note I am directed by Mr. Royce to send a revised a sketch of the ignition plug boss for the above experiment. as shown in the diagram. Kindly note that a definite pocket has been formed connected with the combustion chamber by a passage of small diameter. The diameter of this connecting hole may be increased at a later point in the experiment with a view to determining its effect on the whole pocket firing. The whole object of course is to find out whether this arrangement will keep the plug cool enough to prevent it breaking down, and yet allow us to use high compression. It is a development along the lines of the ignition plug sent to us by Mr. Hives, which had its sparking point well inside the body of the plug. 4514 | ||
