x3491 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to CJ. R3/G28.6.20. X.891. X.3791. RE CENTRE POINT STEERING. It is quite evident that when centre point steering is obtained, our steering requires a little damping friction. This, you have satisfactorily arranged (from the suggestion of fitting a plain thrust washer) for one plain thrust washer on e the front pivots. My impression is, however, that we shall find it still more preferable to fit a plain thrust washer or washers to the thrust bearing on the steering column. This, we understand you have in hand, and a trial of this has been suggested many times, but you have found difficulties in getting the necessary parts to make the test, and I therefore want you to let me know if you are delayed with this for drawings.
