I wired Mr. Royce yesterday as follows:- " ROYCE REFERENCE SPRIAL BEVEL GEARS SIX SETS RECEIVED FROM AMERICA NOW TESTEDstop THREE ARE VERY GOOD TWO EXCELLENT AND ONE NOT QUITE PASSABLE I HAVE INSTRUCTED THAT THE FIVE GOOD GEARS BE FITTED TO TRIALS CARS AND RECOMMEND THAT TWO HUNDRED SETS BE IMMEDIATELY PLACED OR ORDER PLEASE WIRE APPROVAL ALSO PROPOSE ORDERING THROUGH OLLEY TWO SETS THREE POINT FIVE TO ONE RATIO AND TWO SETS THREE POINT SEVEN FIVE TO ONE RATIO FORTEST. BARRINGTON. " Mr. Royce replies by wire this morning as follows:- " BARRINGTON BAILEY HAVE CABLED MR. JOHNSON AS FOLLOWS WORKS REPORTS SAMPLE GLEASON GEARS A SUCCESS HAVE AGREED TO THEIR ADOPTION AND ORDERING A SUPPLY AND PLANT FOR BOTH FACTORIES TEST TO CONTINUE CONCURRENTLY ROYCE.
