Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}5/MG.22.4.39 GEAR BOX Dipstick and Oil Filler Plug ------------------------ With reference to the criticism of present Scheme as outlined in Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}6/G.16.1.39, we have tried out on 27.G.VI a combined Dipstick & Filler Plug of the push in type. This has proved quite satisfactory. It will be less costly to produce, and overcomes the disadvantages of the present scheme. We would like the clearance between plug and orifice to be reduced. The one we tried had .010 to .012 clearance. It is further suggested that the scheme might incorporate a breather. If this can be arranged, the present breather in gear box lid{A. J. Lidsey} could be deleted. | ||
