To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} x4553a (3) Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/KW.13.12.34. 5-B-IV. We have not been able to do any mileage on this car because the new clutch puts itself out at about 2000 revs. We think this is due to the centrifugal effect of the spring cartridges distorting the back plate. We wonder therefore whether you could put a strap round all the cartridges to prevent them flying out, so that we can do sufficient mileage to find out about various points such as the new axle control. Also, will you look into the following points :- (1) The brakes are very spongy, which we think may be due partially to slack in the back ropes and excessive clearance in the servo. (2) The steering is very heavy, so will you please check the cross steering tube poundage. (3) Speedometer cable very noisy. (4) Carburetters flood. (5) The windscreen wipers need connecting.
