Attention Mr F.{Mr Friese} Ll Smith.

Dear Sirs,

We have to acknowledge with many thanks your letter of the 1st instant, and are pleased to have the results of tests which you have carried out on American Hyco and Ferodo No.6. Friction Material.

From the results obtained on the tensile test together with your calculations on the centrifugal stress at maximum engine speed, it would appear that both types of facing possess an ample factor of safety.

However, from the remarks contained in your letter we should like to enquire whether you are still desirous of us arranging for Hyco to be produced in this country, as so far considerable time and effort has been expended in this regard, and our feelings at the moment are that it may be unnecessary to proceed further, unless there is a possibility of you, requiring same for production.

Referring to the concluding paragraph of your letter, it is rather difficult for us to give you any actual figures in connection with the depth of cadmium plating as applied to the Driven Plate Hubs, but we should say that same is probably in the neighbourhood of .00025"; furthermore we would advise you that the hubs are splined to our usual dimensions, and no allowance is made in the broaching for the depth of cadmium deposit, therefore
