contd :- -2- and no dampers is that the car is riding at times hard and produces small shocks throughout the car, certainly felt more in the front seats than in the rear. With tyres that are worn these shocks and the general riding of the car are increased considerably, so much that a customer would have a right to say the riding was hard. Markk This is not due to stiffness of road springs, the car floats up and down with any unevenness of the road surface. We have come to the conclusion that to have dynamic restriction in the rear dampers is wrong and we have proved its value is not beneficial for high speed work. We have tried the steering again with the front shock dampers set to 70 lbs. up and 65 lbs. down with no restrictions. The results are 50% increase in joggles 25% increase in shocks, jellying period much worse. We are satisfied that the best compromise for the front is 60 lbs. L. and 60 lbs. H.P. with the restrictions. G.W.H. | ||
