REPORT FROM Mr. SCHOOFS-COMMERCIAL MANAGER OF CARROSSERIE KELLNER ON A TRIAL HE MADE WITH GUL-4 (R.R.TRIALS CAR) ON THE 8TH AUGUST 1936 ------------------------------------------- Dear Sirs, Many thanks for the pleasure I had during my trip on the new 25/30 HP R.R. demonstration car. Everything proceeded splendidly. Nevertheless, in our mutual interest I would like to strongly critices the following two items : 1) The carburation possesses a weak spot that is noticeable parti-cularly about 70 kms an hour. 2) The steering is really no longer the delightful R.R. steering which I was acquainted with on the 20/25 HP. At low speeds this is about right but as soon as one gets up to 100 kms an hour and overtakes the car or one wishes to keep strictly to the right ( which is not a fault) on a route with a bit of a bump the car starts proceeding like a crab !! Furthermore according to the setting of the shock absorbers steering reactions more or less strong but continual are felt. In a word I trust that Messrs. Rolls-Royce will be able with their magic wand, to transform the steering which was on the 20/25 HP to their model 25/30 HP. Apart from this, the car is an excellent production with which I think we shall be able to bring about some deals and this car ought to open up a new market. Many thanks and apologizes for the above criticisms but I think it is my due to tell you exactly what I think and trans-mit to you the points which occurred to me during this long run I took. Yours- Sgd. Jean Schoofs | ||
