Pown/CTS{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. C.T. Salt Re: Automatic Jet Control We much regret the delay which has occurred in regard to the alternative smaller size Jet Control which you are interested in. We have, however, investigated this matter, and if you will refer to the enclosed drawing you will observe that a special rubber bellows is required to make a permanent seal round the spindle. In order to make the job smaller we had in mind using 1 5/8" outside diameter bellows, but our standard rubber bellows will not go inside the metal bellows, therefore, we should have to have a mould made specially for the smaller size, which would be rather an expensive item for one or two samples. In the circumstances, and for the purpose of your test would you object to using our original method, namely a rolling ring as shown on print No. X.29963 herewith. We know from experience that this method is not satisfactory over a long period, but it will be quite satisfactory for test. If you are agreeable we shall be pleased to proceed immediately with a sample. Yours faithfully, p.p. S. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LIMITED. WP. To avoid delay all envelopes should be addressed to the firm. | ||
