1072 SECRET. To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c.c to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG. c.c to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. re Frontal Appearance of Myth. We have now completed our 1/4 scale designs of the Myth, both for a Rolls-Royce Radiator, and for the Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} type front. On PL.345, we shew the Rolls-Royce Front, with high catwalk, and special headlamps mounted thereon, after the style of the latest Packard. If the bonnet side bead is carried through as the waist moulding, as is the usual custom on R.R. bodies, the waist moulding will be raised .70 [Handwritten Stamp: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}] above that shewn on the Myth body drawn by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG. If, however, an added moulding is used below the bead, the moulding height fixed by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG. can be retained. We have already explained verbally, how we have narrowed slightly the front of the body as drawn by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG. and have reduced the tumble-home in order to enable the scuttle sides to marry up with the vertical side plates of the R.R. bonnet. The headlamps are of special design, and are mounted on a ridge on the catwalk which is created by a chromium plated bead. Special wing lamps, based on those for B.V. are shewn but with round glasses to suit the general artistry. A single centre fog lamp is fitted and is of special design. The bumper is that recently proposed for R.R. cars and made by Wilmot Breeden. On PL.347, we shew the alternative new frontal appearance proposed by Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} The body width at the screen, and the moulding height are the same as that for PL.345, the R.R. front, but a new scuttle is called for to suit the Bentley type of bonnet. The wings are also the same, except for a modified catwalk to suit the bonnet and radiator. The same headlamps and fog lamps are used, and the wing lamps have a modified face to harmonise with the radiator. P.T.O. | ||
