Dear Mr.Grylls, I am always nervous about Dynamometer tests especially when vibration is abnormal or stiff shafts such as used on Radial Engines. These doubts quite apart, the journal of the shaft that you sent is the old pattern again with blind ended holes. The tube looks as if it had been chewed through and also great heat has been on the joint, this being so high that I can't credit that it was created within the joint. I think perhaps you might tell me a little more of what you have been doing with it. If we leave out the heat and the grease throwhout, I should say the journal has stood up well but has suffered from consistent overload. Yours sincerely, J.W. Daniell | ||
