X4057. G.W.Hancock Rolls-Royce Representative Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/ADL1.11.32. Many thanks for your reports. We are getting along here and shall have the third car built very soon. We are finding it very difficult to get the exhaust system satisfactory. I do not think you will be able to do very much with the pieces you are running in France. The brakes we think we shall easily get right. One of the main difficulties we find is the sponginess between the pedal and the rear brake shoes. This is twice as much as on the 25 HP. We have got a larger servo with a slower drive instructed. We have got good results on the latest Peregrine engine with the turbulent head and new camshafts. We think it will be a marked improvement over that which you are running in France. I am now coming over on Monday by air service which arrives at Le Bourget at 11.15 a.m. I shall be glad if you will pick me up then. I am coming earlier because I want to try the Dubonnet car with independent wheel springing before I return. The new Borg Beck clutch has so far proved to be a complete failure; we have therefore got to make the very best of the one that you have because we shall have to start production with it. I have some R.A.D.13 clutch linings which I will bring out as they may be useful if you run into clutch slip. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
