X5800 To Ry. from Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Sg.{Arthur F. In reply to your wire we send herewith N.sch.3279 shewing a slightly modified fixing to the frame for the headlamp brackets to suit the new dropped radiator, and front crossmember as proposed for the second half of "T" series. It will be seen that the present scheme is used almost unchanged, and that the latest Phantom 2 design has been imitated. We have shewn both the frame filling in pieces as now fitted and also a front apron on the lines of that for P.2. We should like to see such an apron standardised especially as it would appear that the cost might be little more than for the filling in pieces. We are inclined to believe that the dropped radiator with its base well below the bottom of the frame will not look its best without an apron of some sort.
