16. action of a B.W.P. Float in drawing itself into the oil and sealing every possible air cavity that starts to form. From the above runs it is evident that the Floating B.W.P. device has a material influence on the ability of the lubrication system of the engine to produce constant and continuous registration of oil pressure. One large manufacturer and international distributor of lubricating oil who is probably better known than any other distributor of high grade lubricating oils have determined to their satisfaction that approximately 72% of the deterioration taking place on the lubricated surface of an internal combustion engine is produced during winter driving operation. It is their opinion, and we believe the fact is generally concurred in by automotive engineers that this deterioration is the result of the lack of registration of oil pressure and the distribution of the oil to the working surfaces of the engine. This being not only true of bearings, but of bores, pistons and rings, in particular. The washing action of the mixture enrichened by excessive choking cuts what little oil may have been left on these parts by the previous running. If the oil film is not readily established at this time untold harm naturally results. This the B.W.P. device does. Since we show very definite improvement in the establishment of lubrication during the period of greatest deterioration it is reasonable to suppose that engine life will be materially lengthened, producing thereby a longer period of care-free, silent and smooth operation, which is conducive to a better reputation for the particular manufacturer of that vehicle. | ||
