Y4081 To EY. from DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} c. to BJ. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/M10.11.25. 40/50 & 20 HP. SWITCHBOXES. X.4186. X.8730. X.4081. X.5730. We have for some time had a design of switchbox which enters from the back of the instrument board, having a dummy flange on the face held on by wood screws. We believe some of these have been fitted to experimental cars, and we thought that by now it would have been in production. We find however that this is not so, and the coachbuilders inform us that such switchboxes are not supplied, even for Mr. Royce's car, and the 20 HP. cabriolet de ville at Barkers. Unless there is some experimental reason, of which we have not been informed, why this is not suitable for standardisation, we would like it introduced at the very earliest possible date, in fact as previously stated we thought it had reached that stage. It is of greatest advantage to us as it saves the expense and trouble of sending one of our wiremen to wire up the switchbox, or else allow a very inexperienced employee of the coachbuilders to disconnect the wires in the junction box and refit them.
