Date The Grange, Fillongley, NEAR COVENTRY. March 27th 1933. Dear Mr.Lidsey, I much regret that I should have overlooked replying to your letter before; being addressed home it got out of routine. The larger bearing on the 6-Cylinder only accounts for about 10º cent over a Roller Bearing, full throttle track conditions (about 120 M.P.H.) In racing practive we endeavour to keep the oil temperature to 90º cent and no trouble is experienced even with very heavy bearing loads using Glacier Motor Metal. On production cars however, if the oil reaches anything above 70º cent there is trouble with hot footboards in the summer. Trusting this is all you require, Yours faithfully, [Signature] A.J.Lidsey Esq, Messrs Rolls-Royce Limited., DERBY. | ||
