26138. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/MA. 10th September, 1934. Messrs.S.Smith & Sons Ltd., Cricklewood Works, London, N.W.2. For the attention of Mr.C.W.Nichols. Dear Sir, Referring again to our conversation regarding the combined instrument patch on the occasion of your recent visit to our works we have been into this question very thoroughly and we are now sending you a blue print showing how we would like you to modify the instrument patch so that we can again inspect the same for final approval. You will notice how we have merged the beading round the two side instruments to give a more symmetrical appearance and the central elevation shows the instrument a little deeper recessed than on the sample we have had at our works. We suggested when you were here that the mounting plate should be fairly thick ultimately possibly a bakelite moulding and the instrument recessed instead of the instruments being on the same level as the mounting plate with a raised beading round them. We do hope you will do all possible to let us have a combined patch back again for inspection with the modifications outlined above. Furthermore we hope the second time you return it to us you will be able to incorporate in it the correct A.T. Speedometer and suitable arrangements for getting at the clock for winding etc. The combined instrument patch is also being returned to you under separate cover. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
