WRAITH III PUSH RODS.

From our experience on what is necessary regarding the external finish of the push rods we consider that in accordance with your memo RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}1/MC.16.9.38, the polishing could be discontinued.

Actually, on our 15,000 miles Bentley III unit we have push rods in .4 Carbon steel, heat treated at the spherical ends, and other than machining at the ends, are left as supplied by the outside forging people.

These represent a saving of 10/- per chassis.

As these .4 carbon rods have run satisfactorily a total of 45 hours, 20 hours of which have been high speed endurance, we consider your recommendation in deleting the polishing on the present S/ZN rods could be adopted without risk.
