Exhaust System. 8 Cylinder Cars.
Senior Range.

In order that Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. can complete the instructions of the exhaust system for the left hand Silver Phantom, it is necessary to instruct the particulars from the following schemes -

(1) The exhaust down take pipes are shewn on PL.82 is correct for all cars of the 8 cylinder senior range, right and left hand cars. ECD.1490 will not be required as it will be replaced by PL.82.

(2) The intermediate expansion box shewn on ECD.1465 and PL.98 should always be 34.775 from the front end of the expansion box to the back of the dash for all cars of the 8 cylinder senior range, Right and left hand cars.

(3) The intermediate pipes and rear silencers are shewn on ECD.1521, ECD.1522 and ECD.1501 and is correct for all cars of the 8 cylinder senior range, right and left hand, except for the length of the intermediate pipes, which are altered in length to suit both the 10 ft. 4.000" and the 11ft. 1.000" wheelbases by adding 9.000 of straight portion for the longer wheelbase cars.

(4) The tail pipes are as shewn on ECD.1501 for all cars of the senior range both right and left hand.

On blue print PL.117 sheet (1) Hand Brake Linkages, we have shewn altered in pencil the holes in the frame side wall to allow the intermediate pipes to pass through, we also shew a 1.625 dia. hole to allow the hand brake cross rod to pass through which should be 4.450 below the level top of frame, for left hand cars of the Senior Range.

Will Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. please alter the tracing of PL.117 sheet 1 to agree with the modified blue print.
