For the attention of Mr. Bogg.

Dear Sirs,

We are still hoping to see the new hand control dampers. I am enclosing the list of bellows as promised.

Can you send me drawings of your largest type of damper? I want to look into the question of fitting this on R.R. cars. If you could let me have a sample damper, it would be useful.

We have been told that we must expect trouble with your damper, due to the unequal piston displacement. I believe you said you had drawn this out carefully. If this is so I should like to have a print of it. The person criticising the design may not have realised the exact position of the top connecting link bearings.

How is the split intermediate lever progressing ? Also the bronze bearings ?

We are anxious to get as many of your dampers running on our cars as possible. The great difficulty is that for the present we need to retain our hydraulic control. To me it appears to be impossible to use your valve with hydraulic control owing to the pressure which operates on the bottom plunger, and thus opposing any movement of the bellows. As this load alters with the operation of the damper, even a very large bellows would be quite unsatisfactory. It looks, therefore, that we must either (1) make the piston displacement dead even in order to use our valve
