We have examined the boxes which you have made up for us in accordance with our note. Reference Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst36/AP.16.11.36, and consider that these boxes could have been made cheaper if it had been done outside. The box as it is, is not satisfactory in that the wheels have no ball-bearings and, as a matter of fact, four ball-bearings mounted on the axle would have served the purpose, we consider, of the wheels. Also it is impossible to remove the batteries easily due to the fact that there is insufficient clearance to handle the same on the ends. We agree with you it is too expensive a procedure to make up any further battery boxes of this type at these Works but as six are required we would like you to ascertain if a box of similar construction could be made outside cheaper.
