Memorandum of Conversation with Mr. Hives on Monday, December 8th, 1930. Present:- Mr. Hives Mr. Ross Mr. Beaver Subject: 20/25 H.P. Cars - Recent Deliveries. We now have in this country the following 20/25 HP cars. GLR 57 " 27 " 60 " 61 " 29 " 31 1. Complaints exist on all six in regard to the insufficient lighting system. On his return to Derby Mr. Hives will give us instructions as to how to improve the generator charge or will send replace generators. 2. Complaints of rough or harsh riding have been received on: GLR 57 " 60 " 29 " 31 Alterations in the road springs, front, and different adjustment of shock absorbers have made decided improvement in GLR 57. Mr. Hives agrees as to this and brought with him a pair of lower rating front springs, which he has agreed shall be applied to Propaganda Car # GLR 31, and if found sufficient improvement, similar springs will be built up by us to change propaganda car # GLR 29 and GLR 60. Likewise, similar changes can be made to GLR 61 and GLR 27 in case we receive serious complaints from customers. Mr. Hives witnessed the trouble experienced with the Barker body on Propaganda Car 31 which has developed a number of noises and rattles and in rainy weather leaks badly. He agreed that we should put this in hand for necessary repairs to overcome these defects. Invoice with description of the work will be sent to England in due course.
