Referring to memos Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.2/JH.10.5.38 and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/MH.{M. Huckerby}17.5.38, it will be noted that we recommended changing C series dip soldered 'F' type oil coolers for the latest 'F' type in view of the number of failures on the former, and the trouble and annoyance caused to owners when such a failure occurs.

In spite of this we now find that no action has been taken as regards this change-over.

Since writing these memos a study of Complaint Sheets indicates that two further 'F' type coolers have failed on C series cars, (3.CM.93) and (3.CP.49) - while one genuine 'F' type cooler has failed in service (3.AX.95).

In view of this we still think that it is advisable to change C series coolers, particularly as 100 'F' type coolers will be available for this purpose from 'D' series, in view of the fact that the oil cooler is being dispensed with on D series cars,

Will Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} therefore please issue the necessary depot sheet immediately.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.
