COPY. C O P Y. To J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} R7/P 13.12.13. With reference to light back axle, we had down the Peugeot, which we found to be quite a light and small job, very much on the lines of our old original axle. It had aluminium central boxes, and has stood satisfactorily some very heavy work, which seems to have broken up the Sunbeam axles. It has given way a little bit, where one would expect, due to the excessive loads, and so powerful an engine for the size of the bevels. This rather supports the suggestion I have made that it might be worth while considering going back to such an axle, at least experimentally. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Rolled out and worn.
