INSTRUCTION LEAFLET NO. 69.

Installation of Indicator, Engine Speed -electric, Mark IA.

Description.

The complete indicator consists of two parts (1) a generator mounted close to the engine and coupled by twinflex wire to (2) an indicator mounted on the dashboard.

Installation.

The generator should be coupled by a short length of 6 m.m. flexible drive to the standard 4-1 gear box on the engine. It is important that this flexible drive should be as short and straight as possible.

The instrument should be mounted where convenient on the dashboard and as far as possible from the compass.

It is recommended that the compass be reswung when the installation is completed, (preferably with the generator running).

The connection between the generator and indicator should be by "Duflex" 4" cable, R.A.F. Stores Ref. No. 89 Section 5A. The cable should take the shortest route and should be protected where necessary. Should the aircraft be fitted for W/T, it may be desirable to use bonded cable.

Test.

Should the indicator give no reading when the engine is run at 600 r.p.m. or over, the two pin plug connector, either on the generator or indicator, should be reversed.
