COPY OF LETTER RECEIVED FROM MESSRS. KINSMAN, LIMITED.
DATED 17th. JAN. 1934.

Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Jan, 17th. 1934.
Derby.

Dear Sirs,
Also one experimental pump embodying the modifications discussed on the 1st. inst.

Regarding the experimental pump, we would point out that this is a rough sample made up to give you a general idea of the modifications we propose to the Handle and the Base.

The Handle of the sample is, for convenience, made in wood but our proposal is to make it a Black Bakelite Moulding, the centre hole underneath being threaded to take the Top Cover of the Pump Cylinder. The cost of the mould for Bakelite would be £.15.

The Base of the sample is made up of several pieces sweated together but our proposal is of course to make it a brass hot pressing in one piece. The cost of the mould for hott pressing is £.7.

The Chromium Plating of the Cylinders is not yet first class in our opinion although this consignment has been done by Messrs. Accles and Pollock who supply the tubes. We are going further into this matter.

Apart from the cost of the moulds for the Handle and the Base the effect of these modifications is to increase the price to 10/6 each pump instead of 7/6 each as originally quoted.

Will you kindly return the experimental pump when you have quite finished with it?

Yours faithfully,
KINSMAN, LIMITED.

Director.
