XS840. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re 18-G-4 Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}10/ES.4.31 STAMP: RECEIVED 8 MAY 1931 Generally speaking I think this is a very nice car and, except perhaps from the point of view of the maximum speed obtainable, it seems difficult to know how we are going to improve on it. The chief criticism of this particular car is, as you doubtless know, a collection of rattles from round about the instrument board which are particularly noticeable when picking up on top speed and help to emphasize torque reaction. I notice that the thermostat control of the shutters functions in a way which prevents the water ever reaching more than about 70º. If we arrive at a stage when we decide to standardize thermostatically controlled shutters for 20/25's, I presume you would not be satisfied with this. I was unfortunate enough to have an accident, particulars of which are given in the attached letter. The wing was repaired locally and I have taken it. to see what can be done about making a better job of it before sending the car back to you as I assume you are not in a great hurry for it.
