WRAITH 111.
G.CD.1011. PROPELLER SHAFT WITH LARGER JOINTS.

This scheme shows a Hardy Spicer Propeller Shaft, the middle portion unaltered except for tube length, but with a larger joint at each end. These larger joints are of the KR.1350 size as proposed for Phantom 111.

It is necessary to increase the hole in the rear plate of the cruciform, (on existing ears, a very slight local increase in the size of this hole would be sufficient), in order to introduce the larger joint. Apart from this the only new RR. pieces are the coupling flanges at front and rear.

Will you please produce the necessary details and order a suitable shaft from Messrs. Hardy-Spicer.

Existing Propeller Shafts.

The tube of the new propeller shaft is .812 shorter; it may therefore be possible to save existing propeller shaft assemblies by cutting off the rear joint at the side of the weld, and welding on the larger joint.
