The condition of main bearings and an oil flow test for an R.20 engine.

You will observe from the above that the main bearings are in a very good condition, as the attached photograph will also show.

During the R.20 engine clean mentioned above, we also carried out an oil flow test of the main bearings. As the oil flow was quite O.K. and normal, we did not disturb the main bearings.

The engine is fitted with a standard oil pump.

P.S.- The small chunk of metal missing from No. 5 lower half came away when we removed the bearing from the engine apart from this the bearings are OK.
