(Experimental Dept.) 328 1300 202 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}15/M 19th February, 1937. Mr. Hickling, Messrs. Ransome & Marles Ltd., NEWARK-ON-TRENT. Dear Hickling, There does not seem to be any doubt that the cages of the Bentley Pinion Bearings are all going to fail after sufficient mileage. Those which have the lubrication grooves have now been out long enough to be failing at the rate of a few a week. I am wondering whether it would not be worth testing some bearings, the cages of which were located either on the ball or on the outers. Can you put through a test on your rig of any of those which you think would be the better and also send along three bearings for test in cars. Hardy and I are hoping you are coming over to see us one day shortly. Yours sincerely. | ||
