We have been carrying out some tests to determine whether the fan when pushed up close to the radiator as on 12-EX has any increased cooling efficiency.
We find that we can measure an increase of some 5% at speeds round about 30 m.p.h. We consider that this is a very definite advantage because there appears to be no attendant disadvantages. We suggest that the position of the fan should be altered with the new type radiator with shorter tubes of smaller section.

We wondered whether you could give us a scheme which will enable us to put the fan on standard Phantom cars in the same position as on 12-EX.

The main modification which must be incorporated before we can do this is the radiator shutter control.
