X.4181 d. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Watford EO.6 Magneto No.73972. Upon receipt of yours EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T23.3.25, Isent North & Sons a copy of your assistant's report WA. {Mr Wallis} 119 of 23.3.25 and we are now in receipt of North's reply dated 26th inst. thanking us for your assistant's report and adding the following remarks:- "With regard to the gears we beg to say that we "changed the pinion with a view to obtaining quieter "running, but it is extremely difficult to say whether "any advantage was obtained from the exchange or not. "With regard to the end play of the sleeve, we do "not think that the amount of noise could be affected "one way or the other by an end play of .010" as this "play would be taken up by the springs holding the "contact breaker cover. "We are pleased to note that the magneto is now "considered to be sufficiently quiet for use on a "chassis." I assume that the Experimental Department will retain this magneto for use on one of their experimental test engines.
