ROLLS-ROYCE HOSPITAL FUND ASSOCIATION The following is copy of a letter received from the MANOR HOUSE HOSPITAL dated 11th December, 1940 May I thank you with all my heart for that magnificent cheque amounting to £745. 8. 8. which has been paid in by the Rolls-Royce Hospital Fund Association to the General Funds of the Manor House Hospital. Of this amount, I understand that £685.19. 4. represents male members' contributions, whilst the balance of £59. 9. 4. emanates from women employees of your world-renowned firm. I have pleasure in enclosing the hospital's official receipt and I now seek the opportunity of asking that you will convey to every man and woman contributor an expression of the warmest appreciation and the most profound thanks, in the name of my Committee. Your cheque is at once encouraging and stimulating and it brings in its train that measure of friendship which we have ever valued, treasured, cherished and reciprocated. At the present time, hospital income is by no means easy to raise, whilst maintenance costs are rising continuously and in a fabulous fashion. Over and above that, this hospital has suffered badly as the result of enemy action, and the cheque which has been banked by our Midlands Area Organiser, Mr. W. F.{Mr Friese} Pendrill, from your goodself, will help us to face all our grave difficulties and severe handicaps with equanimity. May I express to you and through you to every contributor to the Manor House Hospital funds engaged by Rolls-Royce Limited, a sincere hope that Christmas may hold for all the greatest measure of happiness possible, having regard to the times through which we are passing. We at the Manor House Hospital will endeavour to maintain that high standard of treatment and that freedom of spirit and atmosphere which has ever characterised it. For the rich assistance you have given us, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Yours sincerely, JAMES W.LINKHORN Secretary. | ||
