X5800 To EFC. c. EY/HEB.{H. Biraben} BY20/H25.1.25. CWB'S REPORT ON 10,000 MILES TEST. NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I. X.8780 X.5800 X.5440 In regard to the first point, we are arranging to fit a bush in the end of the tube which will be of insulating material and have large radii, and at the same time be fitted with a sheet with a radius to form a scoop, which would prevent any oil flowing down from the steering box getting directly on to the cable. At the same time, we are making enquiries to see whether we can obtain a cable which is more resistant to oil. This is a somewhat doubtful point as the only cables I have knowledge of have rubber as their main insulator, and any rubber having a reasonable length of life is almost invariably easily attacked by oil. In regard to the second complaint, I have written to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town asking them to give the matter careful consideration from a design point of view. BY.{R.W.
