Bentley V.{VIENNA} S.W. Startex Carburetter.

Summary Report.

The following are the leader points in the attached report -

The two major disadvantages in the Startex about which it is possible to do things are -

A.{Mr Adams} Bad distribution of the starting fuel, and
B. Freezability.

A.{Mr Adams} Has been overcome as far as possible by an induction pipe with a built-in gallery delivering fuel downwards into the pipe opposite each carburetter entry.

B. Has been tackled in two ways, shewn in the attached drawing as Anti-freeze schemes 1 and 2.

Scheme 1 has done 30,000 miles trouble free running on a car, and the carburetter virtually cannot freeze up once the engine is running. It is no noisier than the standard Startex, but might prove more difficult to silence than that article.

Scheme 2 is a partial cure, and requires the same amount of silencing as a standard Startex, should that silencing be considered necessary.
