TYPICAL RECORDS.
Photographically Enlarged.
Fig. 18.
Record showing the vertical accelerations of a passenger lift travelling in an upward direction. The acceleration at the start, A, is clearly shown, followed by a short run at uniform speed (no acceleration), and the deceleration, D, as the lift stops. A vertical displacement of 30 mm. on the enlarged record represents an acceleration equal to “g.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp}” (Magnification 9 linear).
Fig. 19.
Record showing the vertical accelerations of a passenger lift travelling in a downward direction. A vertical displacement of 30 millimetres on the enlarged record represents an acceleration equal to “g.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp}” (Magnification 9 linear).
Fig. 20.
Record taken with the double accelerometer (Fig. 4), showing simultaneous (a) lateral and (b) vertical accelerations of an articulated first class Brake (L.N.E.R.) running on standard compound bolster bogies, at a speed of 68 m.p.h. The instrument was placed in the compartment adjacent to the articulated coupling. The entire record gives the 0·1 second time marking. (Magnification 10 linear).
