Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/JH.15.12.39. files 1044 + 1022 Two features not mentioned in your list of work going on are :- (1) Fan noise. (2) Improvement in 8 cyl. engine mounting to reduce effect of unequal idling on passengers. With regard to (1) Does a cowl improve the effectiveness of a fan in cooling when idling. If so fitting it might enable fan speed to be reduced. Edwards should be able to say. Ask Edwards the state of flexible bladed fans. Have we any of the Cadillac type to run. Is the fan on 12.B.V. responsible for much of the high speed fuss? 3 1/2 litres should want a smaller fan then 4 1/4 if we idle our engines 100 revs. faster can we get away with less fan. Regarding (2) Jnr.{Charles L. Jenner} has shewn that we cannot get in a simple raised mounting so we must make the best of what we have. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
