RE GOSHAWK INSTRUMENT BOARD. X4067

We send herewith N.sch. 1298 shewing the new arrangement in instruments, necessitated by raising the "B" type column. This arrangement is to be used for both types of steering.

The nameplate is made of a similar way to that on the dash, but is blacked, and has a ground face - the lions and the screw rosettes to be in bas-relief, and remain black. An alterative would be the plate all black. Two models should be sent to us, one of each kind.

(Regarding the question of nameplate on the instrument board, R.{Sir Henry Royce} wishes it to be there, and the No. plate attached to the chassis to be a separate unit. For the present no doubt we should use the square No. plate on the dash, but a simpler one could be substituted later if desired.)

The oil gauge shewn is our present standard but R.{Sir Henry Royce} has suggested that we try to get a smaller instrument, equally as strong and accurate.

The screws for attaching the instruments to their board should have electricians heads (a very flat oval) and should be countersunk.

The screws on the mixture control quadrant should be modified as shewn. At present the heads are too round.

Our remarks re the black enamel in Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/Evl/M14.6.22. apply equally to these instruments.

On the coachwork print should appear a small scale view of the board with it's instruments, and a note that the
